Open Directory Project
I'm a volunteer editor for the Open Directory Project (ODP), otherwise known as DMOZ. If you have a bit of spare time, enjoy browsing the web and want to help others find good websites, you consider becoming an editor too.
The ODP is a human-edited directory of websites organised by topics or location. Ever search in Google and found 10,000,000 results and all of them seem irrelevant? More often than not, the ODP will have a category with relevant website listings for the very subject you are interested in!
As part of the ODP team, you'll:
- meet and work with people from all over the world
- build up categories containing website listings for subjects you are interested in, whether Sports/Boomerang, Home/Cooking/Chilli or Society/Issues/Peace/Activism_and_Peace_Work
- learn more about the web
- never again have the problem of having nothing to do
- and a whole lot more ...
I'm currently editing categories for my home town of Lara, the City of Greater Geelong, the state of Victoria, and a subject area in Computing, as well as programming some utilities for the project. Refer to my editor profile.
