Chocolate Hedgehog Slice

This is my grandmother's recipe - for years she ran a store selling cakes, biscuits, slices and pastries. It is absolutely delicious!!

  1. Melt the butter over a gentle heat, adding the sugar, vanilla essence and cocoa until a smooth mixture.
  2. After the butter mixture has cooled a few minutes, add the beaten egg.
  3. Crush the biscuits using a rolling pin, leaving some larger pieces. It is good to do this on top of a sheet of newspaper to make moving the crushed biscuits easier and avoid making a mess.
  4. Press into an 11 x 7 inch biscuit tray, sprinkling and pressing desiccated coconut onto the top.
  5. Place in a refrigerator to set.
